The Wonder Girls have come back! It took them 3 years, but their comeback has reignited the retro craze and now their fans are welcoming them back with open arms. Retro and sexy, their transformation is making waves in the KPOP industry.
On August 3rd, the Wonder Girls appeared live for the ‘Wonder Girls Reboot Showcase’ on the new Naver app ‘V’. Slightly nervous, they gathered holding hands to pray and took to the stage to perform “Tell Me” and “Nobody” for their fans. With their comeback official, their fans welcomed them with a brilliant roar of affection.
The girls said, “It’s taken 3 years for us to make this new ‘Reboot’ album, did you miss us?” They also shared their appreciation to the fans who have not wavered through the tough times and performed 3 new tracks to show their renewed energy. ‘Back’, ‘Rewind’ and ‘I Feel You’ are their new tracks and their fierce performance on stage obliterated any regret for their long 3 year hiatus. They also shared the music video and the behind the scenes stories for ‘I Feel You.’
When asked what the most difficult part of their comeback was, they replied, “The ensemble. It’s still hard, but we want to show you our progress.” Although they felt their performance was still lacking, they shared that, “Today we were very nervous, but in the coming days, we will strive to show you our best performances!”
Though 3 years is a long time for a hiatus, and the members had wanted to show off a perfect performance, their fans had already taken to the internet to praise their idols. Within 90 minutes of the release of this 3rd album, ‘Reboot’, the ladies had achieved the all-kill status of #1 on all the online music charts.
This album is in the retro 80’s style of music. ‘Freestyle’, ‘retro pop’, ‘retro dance’, ‘slow jam’, etc. are the style that only the Wonder Girls can deliver. Taking the elements of the past but also rebooting it with today’s dynamic musical tastes, the Wonder Girls have delivered a powerfully addictive track in “I Feel You”.
In particular, the showcase being broadcast on Naver’s new ‘V’ app stirred much interest. Not only were the cheers of the excited fans captured through the live stream, but also the real-time reactions of netizens throughout the event heightened the sense of realism and engagement. As the event drew to a close, the Wonder Girls were able to take questions from their fans in the audience as well as from those online in the app. The engagement and communication between artist and fan was incredible and increased the anticipation of how the Wonder Girls will do with their comeback.
